The fax action automatically faxes reports that match the selected filter criteria. To configure auto-faxing, follow these steps:
Create a worklist filter that includes the newest reports for fax.
Select the Other Lists tab under the Worklist tab.
Find the filter in the table and click the box in the Fax Report column to display the configuration page.
Check the Enable box.
Check the Apply to current content box to fax all existing reports. (This is not recommended.)
Set the schedule parameter to fax the report when the study matches the filter criteria (Immediately) or at a scheduled time (Daily). If Daily, enter the scheduled time using a 24-hour time.
Check the Fax images box to include key images on the faxed report.
Enter the fax number. Fax numbers must be six digits or more. This can be done in one of three ways. The first entry containing a value takes precedence over subsequent values.
Explicitly define the fax number in the Fax Number field.
Select the field containing the FAX number from the available study database.
Select the referring physician record and the field containing his/her fax number.
Click the Configure button.
By default the system queues fax requests within 5 minutes of them satisfying the filter criteria. When the fax begins transmitting depends on the number of faxes in the queue. If a fax fails to transmit, the request is dropped. The status of a fax request can be found in the Logs table. Fax operations are logged under the action fax.
To suspend or disable report faxing, open the fax configuration page from the Other Lists page again, remove the checkmark from the Enable box, and click Configure.
The server's fax settings, including the line access number, can be configured into the system so they are not required when entering the fax number.
To fax a single report to a specific destination, use the manual fax tool.
